I hate that Astrid asked her to draw a self portrait and instead she drew Nicholas. I want to like Paige and for the most part I do but I hate the way she idolizes Nicholas. He wasn’t even mad about the abortion he was mad that he wasn’t the only man that she had slept with despite the fact that he has fucked more women than he can count. What pissed me off most was his reaction to her abortion, “It might have been her body but it was their shared past.” NO.

She’s physically and emotionally exhausted I mean she just had a baby, did we forget? Also, at this point he has hardly spent any time with Max but still had the nerve to leave Paige alone so he could sleep at the hospital. He complains that she doesn’t make his lunch after having Max but 1. At no point during this book has he been a likable character. He’s a pompous, privileged piece of shit and I wish that someone had given him a reality check. This isn’t even really a review but more of a rant. But her mother’s absence and shameful memories of her past force her to doubt whether she could ever be capable of bringing joy and meaning into the life of her child, gifts her own mother never gave. Now, having left her father behind in Chicago for dreams of art school and marriage to an ambitious young doctor, she finds herself with a child of her own. Paige has only a few vivid memories of her mother, who abandoned her at five years old.
